March 2026 Community Update
Work continues to move forward on the city’s water infrastructure improvement project, and over the next few weeks residents may notice construction activity in several areas of town. As part of this work, crews are installing new meter pits in residents’ yards, and new water lines are now beginning to go into the ground as the project continues to progress. A few temporary street closures will take place while crews complete portions of the project. Parts of Fillmore, Hayes, and Grant Streets are expected to be closed through March 20, Johnson Street through March 23, boring work will take place along the edge of Lincoln Street from March 23 through March 27, and Valdez and Cleveland Streets are expected to be closed through March 30. These dates are estimated and may change slightly depending on construction progress. If you live on any of these streets, you will still be able to access your property. The closures will only affect through traffic. R.S. Jobber will also be working with the City’s sanitation department to ensure garbage pickup continues on all closed streets during construction. We appreciate everyone’s patience as we continue making long term improvements to our water system. I’m also pleased to report that the City’s new police SUVs have arrived. They will be going in for upfitting within the next week and should be ready to be placed into service around the first week of April. It will be great to have reliable vehicles for our officers as they continue their work serving and protecting our community. Spring cleanup is coming up soon. The citywide cleanup will take place April 13 through April 16. Residents are encouraged to place tree limbs and yard debris out for pickup. If your home has alley access, please place your limbs and yard debris in the alley. If you do not have alley access, please place the material on the street where you normally set out your garbage can and city crews will collect it from there. Please remember that this cleanup is for yard debris only, so no household garbage or bagged material. Thank you for your patience as these improvements continue and for doing your part to keep American Falls a great community. It is truly an honor to serve the residents of American Falls.

Sincerely,
Mayor Gilbert Hofmeister
