June 2026 Community Update

Hello American Falls!

I can’t believe we are already approaching July. This month marks one year since I was given the privilege of serving as your mayor, and it has been an incredible experience. Like any year, there have been challenges along the way, but there have been far more successes. I cannot say enough about the outstanding employees we have at the City of American Falls. Their dedication and professionalism make my job much easier. I am also continually impressed by the people of this community. Thank you for everything you do to make American Falls such a great place to live, work, and raise a family.

Our citywide water improvement project is currently about 20% complete. RS Jobber has continued making steady progress, working from the Three-Layer Park area through town. More recently, crews have moved into the Hillcrest and J.R. Simplot Elementary areas so those sections can be completed before school resumes this fall. Thanks to the coordination between RS Jobber, our engineering team at Keller Associates, and our City Water Department, the project continues to move forward smoothly. Our water crew has been working tirelessly to stay ahead of construction, prepare work areas, and ensure the project remains on schedule.

Baseball and T-ball have wrapped up their first full week of games. My youngest is playing T-ball this year, so I get to experience it firsthand each week. It is always enjoyable to watch our young athletes learn the fundamentals of the game, develop teamwork skills, and build friendships. A special thank you goes out to all of the volunteer coaches who dedicate their time to these programs. Without their commitment, our recreation programs would not be possible.

The Fourth of July is just around the corner, and there are plenty of exciting activities taking place in our area. Before the holiday festivities begin, we will welcome a circus to the fairgrounds this coming weekend.

On the morning of July 4th, be sure to stop by the annual community breakfast hosted by AF Daily Bread. It has become a wonderful tradition and is always a great way to start the holiday. Later in the day, residents can enjoy several excellent local events. Music in the Park at Willow Bay will feature food trucks, vendors, live entertainment, and a beer garden hosted by Rock Bottom, all culminating in a spectacular fireworks display. Indian Springs will also be hosting its annual celebration with food vendors, activities, and a fireworks show to close out the evening. No matter which event you choose, there will be plenty of opportunities to celebrate with family and friends.

As you enjoy the holiday, please remember that Power County remains under a countywide burn ban. Conditions are extremely dry, and fires can spread quickly through the abundant dry grass and vegetation. We encourage everyone to celebrate safely and help protect our community.
