January 2026 Community Update
I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season and a great start to the new year. As we move into 2026, several City projects will begin picking up as weather conditions improve.
Starting in February, you will notice increased activity around town with the water project. Surveyors, engineers, and construction crews will be working throughout the community over the next two years. At times, crews may appear to be on private property, but all work will remain within established utility easements. If you ever have questions or concerns, please reach out to City Hall and we will be happy to help.
We have also had some issues with overfilled garbage cans. When cans are filled above the lid, trash can spill during collection and create a mess. Please help us by keeping garbage levels below the lid, as overfilled cans may not be collected that week.
I have received several questions about the lighting and traffic signal at the new intersection on the bypass and Pocatello Avenue. This project is managed by the Idaho Transportation Department, which plans to have both the street lights and traffic signal operating by spring. ITD has also agreed to program the signal in a way that favors bypass traffic to help keep truck traffic moving. I would like to thank the County Commissioners for their help and partnership on this project.
Thank you for your continued patience and cooperation as we work to improve our community. Please feel free to contact City Hall or my office with any questions or concerns. I look forward to a productive year ahead.

Sincerely,
Mayor Gilbert Hofmeister
