February 2026 Community Update
As we start seeing signs of spring around American Falls, there is a lot happening behind the scenes at City Hall and across all departments. I wanted to share this month where we are headed and what you can expect in the months ahead.
One of the biggest things on the horizon is the start of updating our 10-year Comprehensive Plan. The City Council and I will be kicking off that process within the next few months. This plan really serves as the roadmap for our community. It guides growth, land use, infrastructure decisions, and the overall direction of American Falls for the next decade.
Our city continues to evolve, and it is important that our planning reflects both where we are today and where we want to go. As we move through this process, there will be opportunities for public input. I strongly encourage you to be involved. This is your community, and your voice matters.
We are also officially kicking off our major water infrastructure project this month. This will be a significant, multi-year effort, and construction will take up most of the next two years. While much of this work will be underground and not always visible, it is one of the most important investments we can make. Reliable water service is foundational to everything we do as a city.
There will be times when construction is inconvenient. We understand that. I appreciate your patience as we work through it. In the long run, this project strengthens American Falls for decades to come.
On the public safety front, we are preparing to place four new police vehicles and our new fire vehicle into service. Keeping our fleet modern and dependable ensures our officers and firefighters have the tools they need to serve safely and effectively. Supporting public safety will always be a top priority.
Across the board, all city departments are gearing up for the busy spring season. Streets, parks, utilities, public safety, and administrative staff are preparing for increased activity and seasonal projects. Spring always brings momentum, and our team is ready.
American Falls continues to move forward with thoughtful planning, steady investment, and a focus on long-term stability. I am grateful for the trust you place in the City Council and in me as your mayor.
If you ever have questions, ideas, or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out. We are here to serve you.

Sincerely,
Mayor Gilbert Hofmeister
