August 2026 Community Update

Hello American Falls,

The past several weeks have been a good reminder that city work rarely follows a predictable schedule.
Our water improvement project continues moving forward and is currently ahead of schedule. That is encouraging news for a project of this size, but construction has only been part of the workload for our Water Department.

I want to sincerely thank our residents for the patience and understanding you showed during the recent loss of water pressure and boil water order. We know how disruptive situations like that can be for families and businesses. To make an already difficult stretch even more challenging, our crews responded to a major water-line break the following day. Through it all, our Water Department employees worked long hours to restore service while continuing to keep the larger water project moving forward. I am extremely proud of how they handled these difficult situations, and I appreciate the cooperation our community showed throughout the process.

Our Fire Department has also spent much of the summer responding to fires throughout the area. When fire calls come in, these men and women leave their jobs, families, and personal responsibilities to protect others. This summer has asked a great deal of them, and I want them to know their time, sacrifice, and service are noticed and appreciated.

While these are a few of the more visible examples, every City department has worked hard throughout the summer. Each department has different responsibilities, but they all play an important role in keeping American Falls running and serving our residents. I see the effort our employees put in every day, and I am proud of the way they continue to work together and respond to the needs of our community.
On a personal note, my wheat harvest season is coming to an end, but for many farmers in our area, another busy season is just beginning. Potato harvest is getting underway, and sugar beet harvest will follow. Agriculture is an important part of who we are in American Falls and throughout Power County. I wish all of our farmers, truck drivers, and their families a safe and productive harvest season.
