April 2026 Community Update

April 15, 2026

April was a great reminder of what makes our community special.

I want to start by saying how impressed I was with the effort so many of you put into Easter this year. Seeing families and individuals hide eggs throughout town for kids to find was something pretty unique. It took time and thought, and it showed just how much people here care about making things fun and memorable for our kids. Moments like that don’t happen everywhere, and it says a lot about the kind of place we call home.

On the project side, things continue to move forward. Our water project is progressing as planned and remains on schedule. Crews will continue working in different areas of town as this long-term investment takes shape, and you’ll likely see activity moving from one neighborhood to another over the coming weeks. As part of the work, street surfaces will be patched back as construction moves along, but it won’t be done block by block as that approach is not cost effective. Once the larger phases of work are complete, we’ll be in a better position to address areas more comprehensively.

I also want to highlight the strong working relationship between the City and Power County. We’ve been working hand in hand on several different projects, and that cooperation is making a real difference in how efficiently we’re able to get things done. When we’re able to coordinate resources and stay aligned on priorities, it leads to better outcomes for everyone in our community.

As the weather warms up, we’ll start seeing more kids out playing, riding bikes, and spending time outside. With the added construction activity, I want to remind everyone to slow down and be extra cautious in work zones and residential areas. Please keep an eye out for crews, equipment, and especially for kids who may not always be aware of their surroundings.

We’ve got a busy season ahead, but it’s a good kind of busy as we continue making improvements across the city. Thank you again for being the kind of community that looks out for one another and takes pride in where we live.

It truly is an honor to serve.

Sincerely,

Mayor Gilbert Hofmeister
